PADUCAH, KY. (NewsFirst) — A man is now in custody on charges stemming from a June 25, 2023 theft and business fire. According to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 4:30AM on June 25th, deputies were dispatched to Lovelaceville Road in Lone Oak for a report that a business was on fire. Deputies along with Lone Oak Fire Department determined the cause of the fire was arson.

Richard King, a suspect in the case, allegedly entered Kut-n-Up salon and ransacked the business while searching for money. After locating several thousand dollars, King allegedly set the business on fire before fleeing the area. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for 49-year-old Richard King of Boaz, KY.

During the ongoing investigation, deputies learned that King had apparently fled the area and was likely heading south. Minutes after the arrest warrant was entered into NCIC (National Crime Information Center), the Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed that they had King in custody in the Nashville area. King was charged with numerous additional offenses in Davidson County, TN.

Deputies say King was extradited back to McCracken County this week and charged with Arson 2nd degree, Burglary 3rd degree, and Theft by Unlawful Taking Over $1,000, according to the news release. A court date has not yet been set.
