CARBONDALE, IL (NewsFirst) – A man was stabbed to death in Carbondale at the beginning of this month after a fight with an acquaintance, according to the Carbondale Police Department.

The police said they responded to a report of an injured person in the 400 block of East Larch Street around 7:03 p.m. They found the victim with stab wounds and transported him to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, where he later died.

The suspect, who was known to the victim, had fled the scene before the police arrived. The police said the stabbing was the result of a personal disagreement.

The police did not release the names of the victim or the suspect, pending notification of family members and further investigation.
