GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (NewsFirst) – A crash on Saturday night on Old Dublin Road resulted in an individual being hospitalized. Eddie Richard, 55, of Mayfield was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center after swerving to avoid a head-on collision. The injuries were deemed non-life threatening.
Richard’s car was struck by Joseph Donald Cherry, 47, of Mayfield after Cherry drifted from his lane. The crash occurred near 4100 Old Dublin Road, which is west of Mayfield.
Police discovered Cherry was under the influence at the time of the crash. Cherry was traveling West in a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. Richard was driving East in a 2013 Toyota Tacoma. Richard was unable to completely avoid Cherry’s car, resulting in a crash of the front halves of the pair’s cars.
Cherry was deemed uninjured at the scene and faces the following charges: DUI 1st Offense, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, and Failure to Wear Seat Belt. Cherry has been sent to the Graves County RC Center and is lodged outside of Graves County.
