PADUCAH, KY. (NewsFirst) – The campus of West Kentucky Community and Technical College will undergo several paving and sidewalk projects starting next month, which will affect traffic and parking for students, faculty and visitors.
The college says the projects are part of its ongoing efforts to improve the campus infrastructure and accessibility.
The sidewalk between the security guard office and the area in front of the Engineering and Technology Center (ETC) is scheduled to begin Nov. 13 this year and continue through March 15, 2024. During this period, there will be sections isolated to one lane and the construction contractor will use flaggers to direct traffic.
The lower parking lot across from Carson Hall, which includes the tennis courts, baseball fields and nature trail, will be closed for repaving and striping from Nov. 6 to Nov. 15. Parking will be directed to the large lot near the ETC.
The main entrance lot by Anderson Hall, the west large parking area and the south area by the Bistro will be closed for paving and striping from Nov. 16 to Nov. 28. During this period, the shuttle bus will be temporarily rerouted with the bus stop close to the crosswalk by ETC and Anderson Hall. Parking will be directed to ETC and the rear of Anderson Hall.
The remaining paving work will resume on April 15, 2024, weather permitting, according to the college.
The college said it appreciates the patience and cooperation of the campus community during the construction period and advised drivers to follow the signs and directions of the flaggers.
