PADUCAH, Ky (NewsFirst) – The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office has announced an official flag disposal drop off point just inside the entrance to the McCracken County Courthouse in Downtown Paducah.
In a social media post, the sheriff’s office says “flags are retired with the dignity they deserve.” Flags can be dropped off in the designated container where they will be properly disposed of according to U.S. Federal Flag Code which says in part, “The Flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.” Click here for more information on how to properly dispose of an American Flag
The McCracken County Courthouse is located at 300 Clarence Gaines St in Downtown Paducah. It is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 5:45 pm.
