CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (NewsFirst) — An early morning snowstorm was impacting Chicago, Illinois. Travel delays were reported on highways and local roads.

The snow was falling at a clip of 1/2″ per hour. Sky and travel cameras showed icy roadways throughout Cook and Kane Counties.

The National Weather Service said they expected the snow to last into the afternoon hours. Snow totals of up to three inches were anticipated.

Today

Snow, mainly before 5pm. High near 35. South southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Tonight

Scattered snow showers, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. Breezy, with a west northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
