PADUCAH, Ky. (NewsFirst) – Paducah Police responded to Kentucky Oaks Mall on Hinkleville Road on the possibility of gunshots. The department confirmed the situation to News First and they are currently investigating.

Robin Newberry with Paducah Police released the following a short time ago:

“The Paducah Police Department is investigating after a disturbance outside Kentucky Oaks Mall this morning.

There was an altercation involving three people, and a firearm was discharged. The suspect with the firearm is in custody. There is not an active shooter situation, and there is no apparent threat to the community.”

The disturbance started in the food court and eventually extended outside in the parking lot. Anthony Williams, pictured below, went to his car and retrieved a handgun. He then shot at the man he had been arguing with. He then fled the scene in a Dodge Charger.

Minutes later, police located the Charger on Old Cairo Road and initiated a stop. Police then arrested Williams on H.C. Mathis Drive and 14th Street.

A female passenger was questioned and released.

The suspect’s name is Anthony Willliams (pictured above), 37-years-old, of Cairo, Illinois. He was arrested on charges of murder (attempted), five counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
