PADUCAH, Ky. (December 1, 2023) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is seeking public input on a permit request to allow a new entrance to be constructed along the KY 121 Dick Castleman Bypass at Mayfield.
The permit request from MIDCO Building Products is to create a new access point to the company’s location at 1040 Dick Castleman Bypass.
According to KYTC District 1 Chief Engineer Kyle Poat, the Cabinet is considering the request for construction of a new right-in/right-out only entrance.
”MIDCO is seeking to construct a right-in and right-out only entrance at KY 121-Bypass mile point 6.686,” Poat said. “This is approximately 750 ft. north of the existing MIDCO entrance. It is designed to reduce congestion and enhance safety at the company’s main entrance at the East Douthitt Street intersection.”
The permit (KYTC KEPT #01-2021-00237) would require a break in the existing partially controlled access along the KY 121-Bypass. The new 60 ft. wide entrance would allow SEMI trucks an additional access point to the facility.
Anyone who wishes to seek a public hearing on this permit request may contact Kyle Poat, P.E., at the KYTC District 1 Office, 5501 Kentucky Dam Rd, Paducah, KY 42003 by mail, or by calling 270-898-2431 by Dec, 28, 2023.
