FAR ROCKAWAY, QUEENS, NEW YORK (NewsFirst) — A man killed two adults and two children with a steak knife.
The mass stabbing occurred at an apartment in New York.
Police received a 911 call after 5 a.m. from a young female called. The female stated that her cousin was killing her family members.
911 immediately dispatched police, fire, and ambulances to the scene.
Upon arriving at the scene, it was discovered that the apartment had been set on fire.
A male suspect then stabbed two police officers. The police then shot the suspect. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
Included in the deaths was an 11 year-old-girl, 12-year-old-boy, 44 year-old woman, and a man in his 30s. Police believe they were all family members.
A 61-year-old female was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with multiple stab wounds. She is expected to live.
During a press briefing, police confirmed that they received a 911 call at 05:10 local time.
They stated that two officers were sent to the address on Beach 22nd Street where they saw a male walking out with luggage.
When the officers tried to talk to the male he pulled a knife out, stabbing one officer in the neck and chest area, and a second officer in the head.
New York police named the suspect as 39-year-old Courtney Gordon, who had one prior arrest for domestic violence in the Bronx.
