CARBONDALE, Ill. (News First) — Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on November 5, 2023, in the 900 block of East Grand Avenue in Carbondale. Kionte L. Scott, 18, of DeSoto, and Jakobi N. Shered, 20, of Carbondale, were identified as suspects involved in the shooting, which resulted in damage to vehicles and apartments. No injuries were reported.
According to the Carbondale Police Department, detectives followed up on leads and arrested Scott without incident during a traffic stop in Carbondale on the evening of December 6th, 2023. Detectives continued to follow up and, on the morning of December 7th, 2023, arrested Shered at a residence in Carbondale without incident.
Scott was charged with Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Shered was charged with Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. A firearm was recovered by detectives during the course of the investigation.
The investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing. The Carbondale Police Department expressed gratitude to the public for their assistance in the investigation.
