On December 7th, the Elks Lodge 639 presented Chief Blair and Assistant Chief Barker with a $6,500 donation for the 2024 Shield of Armor Wellness Seminar. The Elks raised these funds through their annual “Masters at the Lake” fundraiser.
The Shield of Armor Wellness Seminar is a 2-day wellness seminar that targets and educates first responders, staff, and families on the debilitating effects of PTSD and other mental health issues associated with the traumas experienced in their profession. This seminar operates solely on sponsorships and donations, and is presented annually by the Cape Girardeau Police Department in partnership with Beyond the Badge family support group.
