BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Don McHenry’s 18 points helped Western Kentucky defeat Liberty 70-68 to open Conference USA play on Saturday night.
McHenry was 8 of 13 shooting (1 for 3 from 3-point range) for the Hilltoppers (12-3). Dontaie Allen was 4 of 6 shooting, including 2 for 3 from 3-point range, and went 3 for 5 from the line to add 13 points. Rodney Howard and Brandon Newman both added 11 points. The Hilltoppers extended their winning streak to eight games.
The Flames (11-5) were led by Zach Cleveland, who posted 23 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Liberty also got 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals from Kyle Rode.
