PADUCAH, KY – On Thursday, January 18, 2024 at approximately 3:29 AM, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a vehicle pursuit in Illinois that would be entering Kentucky. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office in Illinois was attempting to stop a stolen vehicle and it fled from their jurisdiction.
Deputies responded to the I24 bridge and were notified that the fleeing vehicle, a Ford F150, was traveling East in the Westbound lanes of I24, against traffic. A McCracken County deputy stopped Westbound traffic in an effort to avoid a collision with the fleeing vehicle. While doing so, the fleeing vehicle almost struck the deputies vehicle.
The fleeing truck, later found to be operated by Dylan Russell of Marion, Illinois, exited the interstate and attempted to evade deputies as well as officers from the Paducah Police Department and Kentucky State Police. Russell drove the vehicle through several residential yards and fences as he fled. Law enforcement from different agencies attempted to stop the vehicle with tire deflation devices but were unsuccessful.
Russell eventually drove into a field off of US 60 and collided with a creek bed / embankment. Three of the four occupants fled the vehicle on foot. Charles Parrish, of Cheyenne Wyoming, was located in the vehicle. One occupant, Anthony Thompson of Marion, IL, had entered an abandoned house on Harris Road in an attempt to evade law enforcement. He was located laying on the floor of a bathroom inside the residence. A female passenger, Alicia Scott of Pittsburgh, IL, was located outside the same Harris Road residence and taken into custody. Deputies located the operator of the vehicle, Dylan Russell, at Menard’s on US 60. The Sheriff’s Office was alerted to Russell’s location by an employee of Menard’s.
All individuals from the vehicle appeared to be under the influence of drugs and were taken to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office and subsequently lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
Further charges are pending, but below are the initial charges for each individual. Illinois authorities will be continuing their investigation and filing criminal charges in their jurisdiction.
Deputies have spent the morning attempting to locate damage that Russell caused by fleeing from law enforcement. If you have not been contacted by a deputy or other law enforcement personnel, please call 270-444-4719 or 270-444-8550 to have a deputy respond.
