MURRAY, Ky. — Cody Elkins, 38, of Murray, Kentucky, was arrested on Jan. 25, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m. while deputies were serving a bench warrant at the Calloway County Detention Center.

Elkins was found to be in possession of illicit drugs during the incident. According to authorities, he was last found guilty of manufacturing and trafficking methamphetamine in 2020 by the Calloway County Circuit Court.

He was lodged on charges of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, third or subsequent offense (methamphetamine), a Class D felony, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to appear. The failure to appear charge stemmed from a warrant issued by the Calloway County Circuit Court.

Elkins remains in custody pending further legal proceedings. No further details were immediately available.
