MAYFIELD, KY – On January 28, 2024 at 7:08pm the Mayfield Police Department responded to the 200 block of Central Avenue for a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.
30 year old Erlen Martinez of Mayfield was operating a 2013 black Chevrolet Equinox eastbound on Central Avenue. She stated that another vehicle was going westbound,and they were passing each other when she felt her vehicle hit something. It was dark,and she was not able to see what she hit due to the oncoming vehicle’s headlights.
Jesus Garcia of Mayfield was in the roadway when Martinez’s vehicle struck him. He was wearing dark colored clothing, and was walking in an area that was not illuminated by any street lights. Garcia was struck by the passenger side of Martinez’s vehicle.
Mayfield Fire/EMS responded, and transported Garcia to the Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Martinez’s vehicle had visible damage to the front passenger side bumper. It was not disabled, and remained in service.
