Work zone for construction of new traffic signal

PADUCAH, Ky.    A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans work zone lane restrictions along U.S. 45/Lone Oak Road in the Lone Oak area of McCracken County starting Monday, January 29, 2024.

This work zone along U.S. 45/Lone Oak Road at mile point 7.141 at the new intersection with KY 1286/North Friendship Road and Lakeview Drive is to allow a sub-contractor to install a new traffic signal.  While construction of the new section of KY 1286 is complete and the roadway opened, construction of the new traffic signal had to await the arrival of support poles.

The sub-contractor plans traffic restrictions along U.S. 45/Lone Oak Road between 8 a.m., CST, and 4 p.m., each day through Friday, February 2.  Motorists should be alert for frequent changes in the traffic configuration to facilitate the work.  The existing traffic signal will continue to control traffic flow until the new signal becomes operational.

Motorists should use appropriate caution as the signal crew will be using bucket trucks to work in the intersection in close proximity to traffic flow.

Throughout the week, the sub-contractor may also be working in this area at night to speed construction of the new signal.

The contractor and KYTC District 1 will attempt to provide timely updates as installation of the new signal progresses.
