Vehicle damage to concrete repairs overnight
PADUCAH, Ky. (Jan. 31, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is extending a closure of KY 121 in northwestern Graves County through Friday, Feb. 2, 2024 to repair overnight concrete damage caused by a vehicle.
KY 121 was closed to all traffic at mile point 18.4 on Tuesday morning to allow concrete repairs on the Canadian National Railroad Overpass deck between KY 1213 and KY 339. The closure was to be in place through Thursday but is being extended to at least Friday due to damages yesterday to freshly poured concrete caused by a motorist who steered around road closure signs.
The vehicle left two-inch deep ruts in concrete that had been poured at several locations along the deck. The impacted area will be jackhammered out a second time and replaced to repair the new damage.
Anyone with information on the vehicle that caused the damage is asked to contact KYTC District 1 at 270-898-2431, or contact the Graves County Sheriff or Kentucky State Police.
There is no marked detour for the closed section of KY 121. Passenger vehicles may detour via KY 339 and KY 1213. Trucks should detour via KY 80 and KY 339 due to the low overpass (14 ft.) on KY 1213.
KYTC District 1 will update the public if the roadway reopens to traffic earlier or later than expected.
