Overpass upgrades to take about 3 weeks to complete
PADUCAH, Ky. (Feb. 6, 2024) – A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to restrict traffic to one lane on KY 944 at the Purchase Parkway Overpass in Graves County starting Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
KY 944 will be restricted to one lane at mile point at mile point 2.864 to allow upgrades to the Purchase Parkway Overpass. This is along KY 944 about a mile west of the U.S. 45 intersection.
Motorists should be prepared to encounter one-lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by an automated signal. This work zone lane restriction is expected to be in place for about three weeks depending on weather.
The contractor will be upgrading the overpass to meet Interstate standards as part of ongoing efforts to extend Interstate 69 along the Purchase Parkway from the KY 80 Mayfield Exit 21 Interchange to the Kentucky-Tennessee State Line at Fulton. The work should have no impact on traffic along the Purchase Parkway.
Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
As a reminder, there are several areas along the Purchase Parkway where traffic continues to be restricted to one lane. Work is expected to ramp back up at those locations as weather allows- most likely sometime in March.
