MAYFIELD, KY (NEWS FIRST) – On February 5, 2024, at approximately 6:37 pm the Mayfield Police Department received multiple calls from citizens about a woman that was acting suspiciously near some local businesses.  The woman was reported to be taking mail from the mailboxes of several businesses, discarding the mail on the ground, and causing a general disturbance among the public.  Officers arrived in the area, and found that some mail from one of the businesses had been thrown on the floor inside of another business in the presence of an employee there.  More citizens stopped, and informedOfficers that the woman was seen running down the road away from where Officers were investigating.  Another person advised they witnessed the woman steal items from another local business.  The woman was located nearby, and Officers attempted to speak with her.  She ignored commands and refused to stop.  She was detained, and began to resist Officers.  The stolen items were located in her possession, and were returned to the business they were stolen from.  All mail was also returned to the respective businesses.

Danielle Williams, age 27 of Fulton, was arrested, and charged with Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, and Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition – Shoplifting.  She was lodged in the Hart County Jail.
