PADUCAH, KY (NEWS FIRST) – On February 6, 2024 at approximately 6:44 am a collision occurred in the 3000 block of Oaks Rd involving a 2020 Ford Mustang driven by Ryan Trowbridge (41) and a McCracken County School bus, loaded with 19 students, being driven by Charles Spees (64). No students or school employees were injured in the collision.

The investigation shows the Mustang was north bound on Oaks Rd. approaching the slowed/stopped traffic due to the school bus having just picked up a student and starting to carry on with the bus route. The Mustang was heard accelerating by witnesses and began to pass the stopped/slowed traffic and the school bus on a double yellow line in a posted and marked no passing zone. The Mustang’s drivers side tires went slightly off the roadway and caused the vehicle to lose traction. The Mustang then turned sideways and collided with the school bus.

Emergency personnel and school district employees were quickly on scene to address and investigate the collision. All students were checked out by Mercy Regional Ambulance personnel and no injuries were reported on scene by any of the students.

Mr. Trowbridge was transported by Mercy Regional Ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries.

Mr. Trowbridge was cited for the following traffic infractions; Reckless Driving, Improper Passing, No/Expired Registration Plates, and Failure to Maintain Insurance.

The students were transferred to another school bus on scene and continued to school, again no students reported injuries on scene. No students were transported to any local hospital for any treatment from the scene.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department was assisted on scene by Reidland Farley Fire Department, Mercy Regional Ambulance, McCracken County Schools Transportation Office, Jason’s Towing, and Stinnett’s Towing.
