Closure for deck repairs on Mayfield Creek Branch Bridge
PADUCAH, Ky. (February 15, 2023) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to close a section of KY 1820/County Line Road east of Melber in Graves County on Monday and Tuesday, February 19 & 20, 2024.
KY 1820/County Line Road will be closed at the 5 mile marker to allow deck patching on the Mayfield Creek Branch Bridge. This is along KY 1820/County Line Road immediately east of Melber between KY 339 and Edith Wheeler Lane.
KY 1820/County Line Road will close at this site promptly at 7 a.m., CST, Monday. It is expected to reopen by about 4 p.m., on Tuesday.
The KYTC District 1 Bridge Crew will be patching the bridge deck on Monday. KY 1820 will remain closed Monday night and Tuesday to allow concrete used for the deck repairs to cure.
There will be no marked detour. However, passenger vehicles may self-detour via KY 945, KY 2192 and KY 1241. Trucks should seek an approved state route based on their weight classification.
KYTC District 1 will attempt to provide timely notice should the roadway reopen to traffic earlier than expected.
As a reminder, the Mayfield Creek Branch Bridge has a 3 ton load limit which generally limits the bridge to vehicles no heavier than a standard SUV or a pickup truck.
KYTC District 1 engineers are continuing to evaluate the bridge substructure to determine if it can be repaired or should be replaced.
