GRAVES COUNTY, KENTUCKY — (NewsFirst) — A Marshall County man has been arrested for Insurance Fraud and Falsely Reporting an Incident to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.

On January 13, 2024, 33-year-old Travis A. Thorpe of Marshall County reported that his Chevrolet 2500HD Deisel pickup had been stolen from a field located on Ky Hwy 58, west of US Hwy 45 South.

During the investigation, and on February 08, 2024, sheriff’s deputies located the reported stolen vehicle at a location in Tennessee, a few miles from the Graves County line. Information gathered during that portion of the investigation indicated that the vehicle wasn’t in fact stolen but was part of a plan to fraudulently collect insurance from Thorpe’s insurance company. Deputies confirmed that Thorpe was attempting to claim approximately $16,238.99 for the loss of his truck from his insurance company.

Early this morning at approximately 1 AM, Thorpe was arrested in Marshall County after attempting to flee from Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies, and reportedly pulling a knife on a deputy, while they were attempting to arrest him on the Graves County arrest warrant. He was also found to be in possession of illegal drugs. He is facing additional charges in Marshall County related to that incident.
