WILLIAMSON COUNTY, ILLINOIS (NewsFirst) —

Williamson County, Illinois – On February 20, 2024, at 1516 hours Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the report of a school bus crash in the 13000 block of Sulpher Springs Road in rural Creal Springs.

Upon arrival Deputies discovered the school bus driver had lost control of the bus after suffering an apparent medical episode.

The bus, which was occupied by five children, the bus driver, and an assistant departed the roadway traveling through a ditch, coming to rest after striking a tree.

The bus driver was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for medical treatment.

One child was transported by ambulance to an area hospital out of an abundance of caution.

Sheriff, Jeff Diederich stated, “This incident found law enforcement, EMS, Adam’s School Personnel, and Illinois Central School Bus Personnel working together on scene. I am thankful no one was seriously injured”.

The remaining children were transported to Adam’s School and reunited with their parents.
