MAYFIELD, Ky. (NEWS FIRST) — Concerned about the safety of internet sales transactions requiring in-person meetings with unknown parties, the Graves County Sheriff’s Office has designated a secure location for such exchanges.
Located in front of the newest Graves County Sheriff’s Office facility at 1102 Paris Road Suite 6 in Mayfield, the designated spot is clearly marked with signage. Positioned just feet from the sheriff’s office entrance, the area is under 24-hour video surveillance and is available for public use at any time.
Law enforcement officers are typically present during business hours and intermittently during evenings and weekends, further enhancing safety measures.
Sheriff Jon Hayden encourages individuals engaging in internet sales to use this location for added security. He advises that reluctance from the other party to meet at this designated spot should raise red flags, suggesting that the transaction be avoided altogether.
The initiative aims to provide peace of mind to those conducting business with strangers through platforms like Facebook Marketplace.
