Pryorsburg Community, Graves County, KY – On February 28, 2024, around 4:05 PM, deputies from the Graves County Sheriff’s Office responded to a three-vehicle injury collision on US 45 South near Snow Lane.
According to deputies, 68-year-old Karen Clapp of Water Valley was traveling North on US 45 South in a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox. Investigations revealed that Mrs. Clapp veered from her lane of travel into the Southbound lane. In an attempt to avoid a head-on collision, 45-year-old Jason Adams of Hazel swerved from the Southbound lane toward the Northbound lane. Consequently, Mrs. Clapp collided with Mr. Adams’ vehicle on its passenger side.
Subsequently, 33-year-old Nathanael Gipson of Mayfield, who was following Mr. Adams, also swerved into the Northbound lane to avoid the collision. Mrs. Clapp missed Mr. Gipson’s truck but struck his trailer.
As a result of the impact, Mr. Adams’ vehicle veered off the roadway into the Northbound ditch, hitting a culvert and overturning. The vehicle slid across the roadway and came to a rest on its roof in the Southbound lane. Mrs. Clapp’s vehicle overturned into the Southbound ditch, also coming to a rest on its roof after colliding with Mr. Gipson’s trailer.
Mr. Adams was transported to a local hospital by Mayfield-Graves County EMS. However, both Mrs. Clapp and Mr. Gipson refused transport after being evaluated at the scene.
The collision was investigated by Graves County Deputy Zac Smith, with assistance from Deputy Larry Jones, Deputy Greg Sloan, Chief Deputy Jeremy Prince, Sheriff Jon Hayden, and emergency responders from the Wingo Volunteer Fire Department, Mayfield Fire Department, and Mayfield-Graves County EMS.
