PADUCAH, KY (NEWS FIRST) – On March 2, 2024, at approximately 10:20 p.m., deputies rushed to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Kentucky Dam Road near the McCracken-Marshall county line.

Local residents, upon hearing the collision, immediately began rendering aid to the injured driver.

According to deputies’ investigation, Lorenzo Hernandez (27) of Union City, TN, was traveling eastbound on Kentucky Dam Road toward the Marshall County line when his vehicle veered off the roadway. The vehicle proceeded through several front yards before colliding with an embankment and coming to a stop in a drainage ditch.

Hernandez sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was promptly transported to the hospital. Alcohol was suspected to have played a role in the collision. Following treatment, Hernandez was cited and released into the care of hospital staff.

Assisting the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were members of the Reidland-Farley Fire Department, Mercy Regional EMS, and local good Samaritans.

Charges against Hernandez include:

  • Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License
  • Failure to Wear Seatbelts
  • Possession of Alcoholic Beverages in an Open Container on a Highway
