FRANKLIN COUNTY, ILLINOIS (NewsFirst) — Methamphetamine Possession / Delivery Arrest

On March 7th at approximately 2:30 pm a Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop on IL State Highway 34 near Miller Road in rural Thompsonville. The driver, and only occupant of the vehicle was identified as Dorothy J. Murphy (54) of Raleigh, IL. It was soon determined that Murphy’s driving privileges were revoked.

Subsequent to her arrest and during the search of the vehicle, Deputies located two clear plastic bags that contained a white crystalline substance that field tested positive for the presence of Methamphetamine. Murphy was soon transported to the Franklin County Jail and turned over to jail staff for processing.

Dorothy Murphy is charged with Unlawful Possession with the Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine (100-400 grams / Class X Felony), Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine (100-400 grams / Class X Felony) and Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine (100-400 grams / Class X Felony).

Agents from the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force assisted in the arrest of Murphy.
