FRANKLIN COUNTY, ILLINOIS (NewsFirst) — Aggravated Battery Arrest

On March 14th at approximately 9:00 pm the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was requested by West Frankfort Ambulance / Fire personnel to respond to the American Legion Post in Orient. It was reported that a subject had potentially been battered and was being treated for significant injuries. Deputies responded and began investigating the incident. As a result of the viewing of security camera footage, a suspect in the battery was soon developed.

At the request of the Sheriff’s Office, officers from the Marion Police Department were able to locate the suspect at his residence in Marion. He is identified as Charles S. Ligon (32). Ligon was soon transferred to the custody of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and has been charged with Aggravated Battery (Class 3 Felony). As a result of the incident, the victim is being treated at a regional hospital for significant injuries.

Ligon is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a Court of Law.
