Henderson, KY – Herbert McKee Jr. – Commonwealth’s Attorney announces that on March 14, 2024, a Henderson jury found Lee Stone guilty of the above charges and gave him the maximum sentence available by law. The crimes stemmed from an auto theft on July 13, 2023 at a store on South Green Street. The victim had left his car running in order to keep his black lab cool from the July heat while he was in the store for a matter of minutes. The Defendant later drove the vehicle into oncoming traffic and struck another driver head-on totaling both vehicles and causing injuries. The Defendant then stole the vehicle of a Good Samaritan who stopped to check on the injured victim who had left her vehicle running. Thankfully the dog was returned safely to his owner.

We pray for continued healing for the victim injured and the other victims who suffered trauma from these acts.

Thank you to the jury members who carefully listened to the testimony and evidence.

Big thank you to the Officers of the Henderson Police Department who investigated and quickly apprehended the Defendant within a very short time after he fled. Thank you to our Victim Advocate who helped make our victims feel safe, heard, and helped get our victims to trial after their vehicle was totaled. Thank you to all the staff of our office who assisted with trial prep, as we had to prep for two successful trials this week (details to follow upon the conclusion of the defendants second case)
