CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KENTUCKY (NewsFirst) — Christian County Sheriff’s Office, March 17th, Oak Grove, KY:

On March 17th, at approximately 5:16 am, a high-speed chase occurred in the Oak Grove area, resulting in multiple charges for the driver, Tyreek Lydell Collier of Fort Campbell, KY. Collier was charged with: * Speeding 26 MPH or > Speed Limit, * Reckless Driving, * Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle), * Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree, * Racing Motor Vehicle on Public Highway, * Wanton Endangerment-1st Degree, and* Failure to Produce Insurance Card.

Collier was observed by Deputy Collings speeding and racing another vehicle on Ft. Campbell Blvd, reaching speeds of 94-100 MPH in a posted 45 MPH zone. When attempting to flee from police, Collier recklessly drove and tried to flee from the area.

During the pursuit, Collier’s vehicle struck a curb, nearly collided with another vehicle, and narrowly missed hitting a pedestrian changing a flat tire. The vehicle eventually left the roadway, striking a street sign and stop sign before going airborne and landing in a wheat field. Collier was taken into custody and transported to JSMC for medical clearance before being booked at CCJ. The passenger in the vehicle refused treatment.

Officer Bruce from the Oak Grove Police Department was assisting in the chase by going after the second vehicle and made an arrest shortly after the incident. The Christian County Sheriff’s Office takes reckless driving and fleeing from police extremely seriously and will continue to enforce traffic laws to ensure public safety.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office also appreciates the partnerships with all law enforcement agencies in Christian County, specifically the Oak Grove Police Department in helping us make the roadways safer for our community.
