MCCRACKEN COUNTY, (News First) – Deputies from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office served a criminal summons on Lulu Brown today, following an investigation into alleged animal abuse.

The investigation, initiated on March 18, 2024, was prompted by a tip received by the Sheriff’s Office, alleging mistreatment of animals and the discovery of deceased dogs. Upon arriving at the North 13th residence, the MCSO’s Animal Abuse Investigator found three deceased puppies and three sick two-day-old puppies. The surviving animals, including the mother, were promptly taken to a local veterinarian for urgent care. Tragically, two of the puppies succumbed to their condition within 24 hours.

The mother dog was found severely underweight, tethered in a manner that hindered her ability to care for her young. Further examination revealed the puppies were suffering from hypothermia and dehydration.

Following collaboration with prosecutors, Brown, aged 60, faces charges including six counts of Torture of a Dog/Cat with Serious Physical Injury or Death, two counts of Cruelty to Animals 2nd Degree, one count of Confinement and Control of Female Dog When in Heat, and two counts of Chaining & Tethering of Dog.

The investigation was conducted jointly by the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office and McCracken County Animal Control.
