The Webster County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a theft that took place at the Poole United Community Bank. The suspect vehicle, a blue Nissan Murano, left the location traveling on US 41A southbound.
While attempting to locate the suspect vehicle, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Dixon United Community Bank and received information that the same suspect from the Poole branch, was now at the Dixon branch attempting to commit an additional theft.
Sheriff William Braden was in the area and responded to the Dixon location. Upon arrival, Sheriff Braden observed the suspect vehicle, a blue Nissan Murano backed into a parking spot at the Dixon branch. Sheriff Braden attempted to make contact with the vehicle, and the driver was non-compliant. Sheriff Braden attempted to apprehend the driver. As Sheriff Braden attempted to open the drivers door, the suspect accelerated from the parking spot and began to flee on US 41A southbound.
Sheriff Braden attempted to get the suspect to comply with a lawful traffic stop, but the suspect fled traveling southbound on US41A. The suspect vehicle traveled through the city limits of Providence and back northbound to Dixon on US 41A.
Sheriff Braden lost sight of the vehicle in Dixon and terminated the pursuit.
Sheriff Braden followed up on the complaint at the Dixon branch and recovered surveillance photos of the suspect vehicle and the suspected female who perpetrated the theft and the attempted theft at the bank locations in question.
Sheriff Braden, assisted by Providence Assistant Chief Heath Martin, Clay Chief Shane Moore, and Sebree Chief Nathan Stinchcomb, took the female suspect into custody at the Dollar General Store in Dixon, without incident.
Christa B. Harding was arrested and lodged into the Webster County Detention Center on the following charges:
1: Theft by Unlawful Taking $1,000-$10,000
2: Attempted Theft by Unlawful Taking $1,000-$10,000
3: Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st Degree (2 Counts)
4: Theft of Identity of Another Without Consent (2 Counts)
This case is still under investigation.
