Benton, Kentucky (NewsFirst) — Benton’s streets bustle with vendors, while the ballpark echoes with the laughter of carnival-goers, marking the start of its 179th Tater Day celebration, drawing visitors from near and far.
While the official festivities kick off on Monday, the weekend promises a slew of Tater Day classics, including the exhilarating Demolition Derby, the adrenaline-pumping Enduro Race, the timeless Classic Auto Show, the heartwarming Dog Show, the thrilling Pony Pull, scenic helicopter rides, and, of course, the much-anticipated Benton Tater Day Parade on Monday.
On Friday, the action revs up with the Demolition Derby at 7 pm. Pit gates and inspections open at 3 pm, while the spectator gate welcomes guests from 5 pm onwards.
Saturday sees the Enduro Race at 5 pm, with pit gates and inspections starting at 1 pm, and the spectator gate opening at 3 pm. Before the feature race, spectators will be treated to a dazzling fireworks display.
Chattanooga Helicopter Tours return once more, offering rides from today through Monday.
For those craving a hearty start to Monday, the Tater Day Pancake Breakfast will be served from 7 am to 10 am at Benton Elementary School.
Nightly admission stands at $15 for those aged 7 and above, while children aged 6 and under enjoy complimentary entry.
The carnival will be in full swing throughout the weekend until Monday, with Casey’s Carnival Rides stationed at HH Lovett Park. Ride enthusiasts can enjoy the thrills from 5 pm to 10 pm today, and from noon until 10 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. On Monday, the fun begins at 9 am and concludes at 3 pm.
Cap off the celebration with the highlight of the day—the Tater Day Parade at 11 am on Monday.
