Traffic signal work to prohibit trucks on KY 1286/North Friendship Rd

PADUCAH, Ky. (April 7, 2024)   A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to resume a work zone lane restriction along U.S. 45/Lone Oak Road in the Lone Oak area of McCracken County on Tuesday, April 9.

This work zone along U.S. 45/Lone Oak Road at mile point 7.141 at the new intersection with KY 1286/North Friendship Road and Lakeview Drive is to allow a sub-contractor to install a new traffic signal.

Due to the limited turn radius created by the placement of bucket trucks in the intersection, all commercial trucks and vehicles pulling trailers over 20 ft. in length will be prohibited along the section of KY 1286/North Friendship Road between U.S. 45/Lone Oak Road and U.S. 62/Blandville Road.

Message boards placed along KY 1286/North Friendship Road will alert truckers to this restriction.  Trucks that are making deliveries along this section of North Friendship Road should access the area from the U.S. 62/Blandville Road end only.

While the signal installation crew will be working at the intersection on Monday, April 8, no lane restrictions will be required on Monday.

Starting Tuesday, motorists should be alert for traffic restrictions along U.S. 45/Lone Oak Road from 8 a.m., CDT, to about 2 p.m., each day through Friday.  Motorists should be alert for frequent changes in the traffic configuration to facilitate the work.  The existing traffic signal will continue to control traffic flow until the new signal becomes operational.

Motorists should use appropriate caution as the signal crew will be using bucket trucks to work in the intersection in close proximity to traffic flow.

The contractor may work in this area at night to speed construction of the new signal.

The contractor and KYTC District 1 will attempt to provide timely updates as installation of the new signal progresses.
