PADUCAH, Ky. (April 10, 2024)  The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans a daytime work zone lane restriction for the repair of a large pothole along KY 58/Mayfield Highway at the west edge of Benton starting Monday, April 15, 2024.

This daytime work zone along KY 58 will require turns be restricted at the U.S. 641-Spur/KY 58 intersection.

The large pothole is along the eastbound lane of KY 58 at mile point 8.26 – immediately east of the intersection at the entrance road to Tractor Supply and FiveStar Convenience Store.

Due to limited work space and the proximity to the intersection, both left-hand and right-hand turns from U.S. 641-Spur into KY 58 East will be prohibited while the work zone is active. Motorists traveling north and south on the U.S. 641-Spur planning to travel into Benton should seek an alternate route while this work zone is active.

Portable message boards have been placed near the intersection to alert motorists to the KY 58 work zone.  The pothole repair work is expected to take about three working days to complete.

Motorists who travel KY 58/Mayfield Highway should be alert for one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers immediately east of the U.S. 641-Spur intersection.  Some delays are possible during the movement and placement of equipment to facilitate the work.
