Bollinger County, Missouri (NewsFirst) — On Friday, April 5, 2024, law enforcement officials with the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office began to conduct an investigation into Bradley Wyss and violations of his sex offender registry. Wyss is a resident of Bollinger County, Missouri, and is required to register as sex offender due to a prior conviction for a sexual offense out of the state of Wisconsin.
Prior to this investigation, Wyss had been convicted of Failure To Register As A Sex Offender five separate times over the course of ten years, all of which were felonies. Of those convictions, Wyss was previously arrested by the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office and charged for Failure To Register As A Sex Offender – 3rd Offense in May of 2023. Following that arrest, Wyss plead guilty to a lesser charge of the Class E Felony of Failure To Register As A Sex Offender in Bollinger County Circuit Court in December of 2023. Due to the plea agreement made between the Bollinger County Prosecutor and Wyss for that guilty plea, Wyss was released from custody with a sentence of time served for seven months of incarceration.
A short time after the investigation began, an investigator with the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office observed Wyss operating a motor vehicle which was not registered on his sex offender registration as required by law. Upon making that observation, the investigator conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle at which time Wyss was taken into custody. Following his arrest, a felony arrest warrant was issued for this matter. The warrant information is as follows:
Charge: Failure To Register As A Sex Offender – 3rd Offense
Bond: $25,000.00 Cash Only
Jurisdiction: Bollinger County, Missouri
I want to make it clear as I have in the past, the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office will work diligently to ensure the residents of Bollinger County that those who are required to register as sex offenders within our community will be held to the mandatory requirements ordered by law. In the event that a violation such as this or any other violations are found, as they have been in the past, those violations will be investigated to the full extent with the purpose of prosecution to follow. For context purposes related to this investigation, Missouri State Statutes state that if the defendant is found guilty of the offense of Failure To Register As A Sex Offender – 3rd Offense, they shall serve no less than ten years of imprisonment and the imprisonment term is not to exceed thirty years.
Wyss remains incarcerated in the Bollinger County Jail at the time of this post.
