Closure due to deterioration of bridge substructure
PADUCAH, Ky. (April 12, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has closed a section of KY 1485/Bellville Road in southern Graves County until further notice.
KY 1485/Bellville Road is closed at the Terrapin Creek Bridge near the 2 mile marker. This is along KY 1485 between Jetton Road and Shrader Rd/Bell City Road about two miles north of the Kentucky-Tennessee State Line.
The Terrapin Creek Bridge was previously restricted to a 3-ton load limit. An inspection team found additional deterioration of the bridge substructure. After an analysis of the inspection report, the KYTC bridge preservation staff ordered the bridge closed to all traffic.
There is no marked detour.
KYTC District 1 engineers will determine if the Terrapin Creek Bridge can be repaired or should be replaced.
The roadway will remain closed until further notice. The roadway has been signed and barricaded.
KY 1485/Bellville Road connects to Boydsville Road at the state line. Approximately 200 vehicles travel this section of KY 1485 in an average day.
