Work to take about two days to complete
PADUCAH, Ky.) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has established a work zone lane restriction along U.S. 60 near the 7 mile marker in Ballard County.
This work zone along U.S. 60 immediately east of the Barlow Community is to allow erosion control work around a concrete culvert between Jim Ireland Rd/Johnson Road and the Barlow City Limit.
In recent months, erosion had cut into the embankment along the westbound lane of U.S. 60 near the culvert. KYTC personnel and a contractor are placing sheet piling to reinforce and protect the embankment.
Motorists should be alert for one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers. Some delays are possible during the movement and placement of equipment to facilitate the work.
Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and maintenance personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
This work zone is expected to be in place today and Wednesday. However, the crew is attempting to complete the erosion repair work before rain is expected to arrive tonight and Wednesday.
KYTC District 1 will attempt to provide timely updates as the work progresses.
