17 day closure for replacement of Dry Creek Branch Culvert
PADUCAH, Ky. (April 30, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans an extended closure of KY 778 in southern Lyon County starting Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
KY 778 will be closed for about 17 days at mile point 0.6 to allow the Dry Creek Branch Culvert to be replaced. This is along KY 778 just over 1/2 mile northeast of the Lyon-Trigg County Line. In Trigg County KY 778 is also known as Will Jackson Road.
KY 778 will close promptly at 8 a.m., CDT, on May 8. The work is expected to take about 17 days to complete.
There will be no marked detour. However, motorists may self-detour via KY 276/Hurricane Road and KY 93.
The Lyon County Highway Maintenance Crew will remove the old culvert and replace it with an prefabricated aluminum arch culvert. A contractor will assist with assembling of the new culvert.
Prefabricated aluminum culverts are less expensive that concrete culverts and can be constructed in a matter of weeks rather than months.
The target completion date is May 24, 2024. KYTC District 1 will attempt to provide timely updates should be work be completed earlier than expected.
