Mayfield, KY (News First ) — Mayfield Police Department officers responded to a collision at the intersection of South 16th Street and West Broadway on 05/02/2024 at approximately 1812 hours. The incident involved a 2007 Toyota Sienna, driven by 24-year-old Desiree Pritchett, and a 2005 Ford Ranger, operated by 47-year-old Jason Hayden of Rosiclare, IL.
According to the investigation, the Toyota Sienna, traveling northbound on 16th Street, experienced brake failure, leading it to run through a stop sign and into oncoming traffic. The Ford Ranger, heading eastbound on Broadway, collided with Pritchett’s vehicle. 74-year-old Ricky Thielbar, a passenger in the Ford Ranger, was also involved.
Both Hayden and Thielbar sustained minor injuries and were treated by Mayfield Fire Department EMS. Pritchett was transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
The collision occurred in front of Mayfield Fire Department Station 2, prompting an immediate response from medics at the station. Broadway, between 16th Street and 17th Street, was closed to traffic for approximately 41 minutes.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to damage.
