GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (News First) — Deputies responded to a single-vehicle collision involving injuries on Friday morning.

At approximately 7:55 a.m. on May 3, 2024, deputies from the Graves County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched near the intersection of State Route 1241 and Old Plant Road.

According to authorities, 30-year-old Carly Matheny of Hickory was traveling north on State Route 1241 in a 2014 Honda CR-V. Matheny reported that she was attempting to retrieve an item from her center console when she looked down momentarily, causing her to strike the concrete curb on the bridge just north of Old Plant Road.

The impact reportedly caused Matheny’s vehicle to slide across the southbound lane and into a deep ditch. Deputies arrived to find Matheny preparing to exit her vehicle.

Matheny was transported to a local hospital for evaluation of her injuries before being transferred to an out-of-state hospital.

Assisting at the scene were personnel from the Mayfield-Graves County EMS and Melber Volunteer Fire Department.
