PADUCAH, Ky. (News First) — The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 15 will host a memorial service on Monday, May 13, 2024, at 12 noon to commemorate Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week.

The service, honoring the 137 officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2023, will take place near the memorial situated between the courthouse and sally port of the jail.

This marks the first service since its cancellation in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions, and organizers are hopeful for a strong attendance.

McCracken County Attorney Cade Foster is slated to be the guest speaker for the event.

Sworn officers are expected to wear Class A attire or the uniform of the day, as there will be a formation of officers following basic commands during the ceremony.

The Paducah Police Department/McCracken County Sheriff’s Office honor guards will present the colors and perform taps during the service.

Refreshments will be provided following the ceremony.

Organizers encourage community members to attend the event.
