KUTTAWA, Ky. (News First) — The City of Kuttawa rejoices as the Kuttawa Volunteer Fire Department receives a $2 million grant dedicated to the revitalization of its fire station.

Mayor Barbara Campbell, alongside Councilwoman Sandy Stark, spearheaded a four-year advocacy effort in Frankfort to secure the critical funds. Their relentless pursuit, supported by Councilwoman Skyla Grief and City Clerk Savannah McLeod, involved consistent communication with legislators and multiple visits to the state capital.

Despite facing rejection twice, Mayor Campbell’s team persevered, eventually gaining the support of State Representative Chris Freeland, who facilitated crucial networking opportunities, and State Representative Steven Rudy, House Majority Floor Leader, who championed the funding request.

Expressing gratitude, Mayor Campbell extends thanks to the representatives for their unwavering support. The city looks forward to the collaboration with Craig Thomas at RBS Engineering to bring the fire station renovation to fruition.
