McCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (News First) — McCracken County Deputies responded to a report of a home invasion on May 10, 2024, at approximately 06:37 a.m. in the 900 block of Oaks Road.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered an unknown male armed with a large knife inside the residence. The homeowner confronted the suspect, prompting him to flee the scene.

Deputies swiftly arrived at the location, where Deputy Mike Colyar spotted the suspect in a nearby residential yard, still armed. The suspect attempted to escape on foot but was apprehended by Corporal Tyler Davis following a brief pursuit.

The suspect, identified as Joel Wilson, 20, of Mayfield, was found to have an active warrant for his arrest in McCracken County, related to previous criminal charges. Wilson, who was suspected to be under the influence of drugs, was taken to a local ER for treatment before being lodged in McCracken County Regional Jail.

Wilson faces charges including first-degree burglary, fleeing or evading police, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication (controlled substance). Additionally, a bench warrant for failure to appear was served.
