U.S. 60/Hinkleville Rd near New Holt Rd Intersection in Paducah on Wednesday

Utility poles damaged by lightning hit to be replaced

PADUCAH, Ky. (May 14, 2024)  Utility crews from Jackson Purchase Energy and Paducah Power plan a work zone lane restriction along U.S. 60/Hinkleville Road just west of the New Holt Road intersection on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

This work zone for eastbound traffic on U.S. 60 at the 10 mile marker near the Aldi’s Market in the 5100 block of Hinkleville Road is to allow utility crews to change out two utility poles damaged by a lightning hit Tuesday afternoon.  The poles carry multiple utility lines that will require coordination as the poles are changed out.

Eastbound motorists should be prepared for this work zone to go up around 7 a.m., Wednesday.  All eastbound traffic will move to the left-hand or passing lane.

To help reduce delays, commuters should consider an alternate route.

Based on the number of utility lines to be moved and the two poles to be replaced, this work zone could remain up into the early afternoon hours.

Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and utility personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
