PADUCAH, Ky. – The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office arrested a local man on drug and gun charges after a traffic stop Thursday evening.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on May 16, detectives stopped a vehicle for traffic infractions in the 1200 block of Mallory Street. Detectives reported that they immediately smelled marijuana upon contacting the driver, identified as 46-year-old Anthony Woods.

During the investigation, detectives discovered over 700 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, baggies, THC gummies, and a loaded 9mm handgun in the vehicle. They also seized $1,970 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from illicit drug sales.

A criminal history check revealed that Woods, a convicted felon, was prohibited from possessing a handgun. He also had a prior conviction for firearm-enhanced trafficking in marijuana, making this his second offense.

Woods, a resident of College Avenue in McCracken County, was arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.

He faces charges of disregarding a stop sign, failure to signal, firearm-enhanced trafficking in marijuana over eight ounces (second offense), possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
