MAYFIELD, Ky. (News First) — At approximately 2 p.m. Sunday, deputies from the Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence west of Mayfield for a report of a possible stolen vehicle. Jason Garber, 47, of Mayfield, was identified as the suspect who had taken the vehicle without permission.
Deputy Ben Doran and Sgt. Richard Edwards began looking for the vehicle and located Garber driving it on Mitchell Drive shortly thereafter. Deputy Doran attempted a traffic stop, but Garber continued driving for a short distance before pulling into a residence on Lakeshore Drive. Garber exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies deployed a taser to apprehend Garber after a brief struggle.
Garber, who had ingested methamphetamine earlier in the day, was taken into custody and transported to the Graves County RC Center. He was later transferred to an out-of-county facility by Graves County Jail staff.
Garber faces multiple charges including Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, DUI, Disorderly Conduct, Fleeing or Evading Police, Resisting Arrest, and various traffic offenses.
