All-Way Stop being added to U.S. 51/U.S. 62 intersection
PADUCAH, Ky. (May 30, 2024) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans traffic flow changes along U.S. 51 through Bardwell in Carlisle County starting Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
Motorists who regularly travel U.S. 51 through Bardwell should be alert KYTC personnel working on the following changes:
U.S. 51/U.S. 61/Front Street Intersection
This intersection will be converted to an ALL-WAY Stop with the addition of stop signs for north-south traffic on U.S. 51 – Stop signs are already in place for U.S. 62 and Front Street on the east-west legs of this intersection
U.S. 51 at the Jennings Street Intersection
The signal at this intersection will be placed into YELLOW flashing or caution mode for north-south U.S. 51 traffic and RED flashing or stop mode for east-west traffic on Jennings Street for 90-days to determine if the signal should be removed.
A sign crew and a signal crew will be working in this area starting at 8 a.m., CDT, Tuesday, to make the necessary signal and signage changes. The work could take several hours to complete.
Motorists should be alert for changes in traffic flow these alterations will bring to U.S. 51 through Bardwell.
At the end of 90 days, KYTC District 1 traffic engineers will evaluate the U.S. 51/Jennings Street intersection to determine if the signal should be removed. This traffic signal is at U.S. 51 mile point 7.689.
The U.S. 51/U.S. 62 intersection is at U.S. 51 mile point 7.837 and U.S. 62 mile point 0.0.
Approximately 3,600 vehicles travel this section of U.S. 51 through Bardwell in an average day.
