PADUCAH, Ky. (News First) — At approximately 8:48 a.m., McCracken County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an injury collision on U.S. Highway 60 at the intersection of McCracken County High School.
The investigation revealed that Kent Wallace, 53, of Paducah, was driving a 2020 Jeep Gladiator westbound on Highway 60 when his vehicle veered off the north side of the roadway and struck a metal utility pole. Wallace had to be extricated from his vehicle using mechanical means. He was transported to a local hospital and later flown out of state for incapacitating injuries.
The collision rendered the traffic lights at the intersection inoperable. The state highway department has temporarily installed stop signs until the lights can be repaired.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Concord Fire Department, West McCracken Fire Department, Mercy Regional EMS, Jackson Purchase Energy Corporation, and the Kentucky State Highway Department.
