Traffic delays between about Noon and 2 p.m. for bridge beam deliveries
PADUCAH, Ky. (News First) – Motorists should be prepared to encounter brief delays along KY 121 at the KY 945 intersection in northern Graves County Today.
The contractor has narrowed the window for delays to between about Noon and 2 p.m., CDT, today.
Concrete beams for construction of a new bridge over Gilbert Creek on KY 945 are en route. To deliver the 100 ft. long box beams to the construction site, trucks will have to stop along KY 121 at the KY 945 intersection and back up KY 945 about a mile to the worksite. Traffic on KY 121 will be stopped from time to time to allow the oversized loads to make the transition to KY 945.
Motorists traveling KY 121 should be prepared for traffic delays of about 15 minutes each near the 14 mile marker. Motorists are asked not to detour by KY 440 as KY 440 will also be blocked as the oversized loads back up along KY 945.
KY 945 remains closed at the 1.14 mile point at Gilbert Creek to allow the KYTC District 1 Bridge Crew and a contractor to construct a new bridge. With delivery of the beams, the new bridge is expected to be completed in about 30 to 45 days..
